One Direction Makes Album Chart History: Are They The New Beatles?

UK boy-band sensation One Direction may make music chart history this week by being the first non-U.S. group to debut at #1 on the billboard charts.

Billboard is reporting that the band's new album 'Up All Night' could sell 160,000 to 180,000 albums by the end of the week.

One Direction would be the first UK band to debut at No.1 with its first album.

One Direction could possibly face some competition from Adele's '21' that is forecast to sell around 150,000 to 160,000 this week.

The boy-band has been compared to The Beatles in the past due to their phenomenal success in the United States.

Band member Harry Styles said they were all humbled by the comparison to The Beatles, who only placed at number 4 when they debuted with 'Introducing...The Beatles' in 1964.

"That seems ridiculous to us, because they were such icons," said Styles to the Daily Mirror. "But we watched a film of their first U.S. trip and there were similarities. We're as close as them despite not being together long."
